Buck jerked her against his body. “Ya won’t be wantin’ ta fight. It’ll go hard fer ya.”
His words sent shivers down Sara’s spine.
“My husband will be home soon.” As she spoke a wave of hopelessness sweep over her. It was futile. If the shots she heard were aimed at these men, they had missed and Edward would be here by now. If they were the shooters. . .her mind numbed at the thought, refusing it.
