The Blue Religion
a book of short stories
edited by Michael Connelly
PUB:  Little Brown and Co
ISBN:  978-0-316-01251-5

All of the short stories in this collection of nineteen are about the police, wanta-be police, and their families and relationships to others, dreams and problems. They span time and space.  Crime is no distinguisher of where it happens or who it hurts.

From a retired cop who still has an active mind, to a boy who wants to follow in his father's steps and become a policeman.  To keep a cold case active a cop may have to compromise his integrity, will he?  The special problems of three female beat cops being harassed by one of their male counterparts.  A retired cop ill with Alzheimer's proves he can still be a cop.

These stories have cheats, and twists and turns, reporters, writers, and liars, a man referred to as a Fool, but is he?  They all have something in common--they are all well written, and all have endings making it well worth taking the time to read them.  I really enjoyed this collection.
