The Price Of Blood
By Declan Hughes
PUB: William Morrow
ISBN: 978 006 082551 5
It may be only me, but I've never seen so much going on in a novel before--all at one time; horse racing and cheating, gambling, booze, drugs, infidelity, and murder.
But you haven't seen it through Ed Loy's eyes. On the outs with the Guard, he has few friends on the side of the law and many acquaintances on the shady side. When Loy is set on the trail of a missing jockey he begins a journey with many stops and layovers.
The horses aren't the only ones running for the finish line. Declan Hughes' book has more twists and turns than a fox hunt trail, and is packed with hard living, random loving and lots of murders. I was on the edge of my seat until the last page, and the last race was over.
