A large family is devastated when one of their own is gunned down.  In the small community most of the residents know one of the Stanfords; went to school with them, worked with them, or went to bed with them.  Sheriff Charles Whitman's job is to find out who and why one of them wanted Michael Stanford dead.

Karlene Heinkel tells the story of the past interspersed with the happenings of today.  A good solid tale of lust and murder, deception and one small town's morals.
