Once you've read this book, you'll never take anyone at face value again.  A minister of his people, Curtis Black has a past and a present life that doesn't quite fit his vocation, a past marriage, and family; past mistresses, and an unclaimed child.  He wants to make his new daughter his own, but fears his wife's reaction.  But Charlotte Black isn't Snow White either, the two children Curtis raised as his own, are not his.

The couple struggle to keep their marriage together.  Will their son recover from the shock and anger of finding out his mother was not faithful?  Will Curtis be able to convince Charlotte to accept his mistress's daughter?  Will the congregation find out the truth of his life?  Will they forgive him and Charlotte their human indiscretions?

A well written book telling the twists and turns; lies and deceptions; and a struggle to find the path to good and respectability for some very special people.
