Watchman
By Ian Rankin
PUB: Little Brown and Company
ISBN: 978-0316009133
The job of a watchman is simply to watch and report--but now and then something goes wrong. When it happens to Miles Flint, he starts to investigate--and he's warned to drop it. He does, but not everyone has.
Lives come together, alliances formed and broken. Lies uncovered.
Miles isn't the only person digging--and he's not the only one in danger. He finds that there are a lot of hidden secrets that reach into the guts of the Watcher's Service--does it go all the way to the top man? But its not until he's sent on a job that could mean his life, that he realizes that he knows "too much" and is in the way. But who's way, and what does he know?
I guess its not possible to read all the books in the world, but its always nice to find one that's a well written and exciting as this one.
